Postby Joe » July 23rd, 2006, 11:14 pm

Name: Joe

Common Name: Joseph Daniel Howell

Full Title and Rank: Ambassador of Clan Titan

Race: human

Magical Affinity: Light/Fire

Military Division/Rank: none

Character Overview: Joe is good. Not in that "Lawful Good" D&D crap, he's just, good. He is something of a pacifist with a heart for all people. He also happens to be a particularly good fighter and mage. He's also got a bit of a weakness for pretty eyes and a pretty smile. He likes to learn and travel and practice magic. He's a "modified taoist" of his own design. His favorite food is rice noodles when they are stir fried in a little oil with cabbage and carrots and just the right amount of salt and pepper.

Ability: [Magic] Joe's spell book is full of hundreds of spells from his travels, but he has learned only a handful of them, and of those, very few can he say he has mastered. Though his connection with the magics is stronger than most mages will dream of, he is still a novice. His favorite magic to use is to manipulate electricity. He channels it from anything to small shocks from his hands to great lightning stirkes. He's still working on the accuracy though. When in combat he also has learned to use his levitate spell. It is a form of fighting he learned while in China and possibly the spell he is most proficient with. The first spell he learned was healing. When used properly it is powerful enough to heal mortal wounds. The last spell he favors in combat is a stun spell. It is the magical effect of chloroforming someone. This spell requires skin to skin contact. Joe doesn't cast magic as a typical mage would. Spells are only guidlines for him. He channels mana through his will, using spells only as an extra focus. This has given him many other abilities has has honed over the years, to "see" magic when it is present, and to communicate to the soul of things.
[Fighting Ability] During his time in China, Joe learned Wu Shu, Drunken Tai Chi, and, through a bizzare plot hole, Jeet Kun Do. He is by far best at Tai Chi and Drunken Tai Chi but he practices nearly all of the styles he's learned every day in his meditation.

Physiology: Joe is a medium, slender build, standing no more than five foot eleven. Though he is from England he is only half caucasian and owes his looks to the other half. His skin is a golden color that could nearly be pinned on any number of races and yet is obvious that it is none of them. His hair is nearly black and falls just above his shoulders. And his eyes are the deepest emerald, bright near the pupil and dark on the outer rim. He also has a black magical tattoo on his back that most of the time somewhat resembles a dragon. Unbeknownst to Joe, his former lover put all of her magic into it to protect him against physical harm on his quest. She sacrificed all her power in order to protect him. It only works when all other protections fail, and because it is the sum of her magics, it will eventually wear out and no longer protect him.
His attire is a bit off from the comon style of Dragon Court. Joe wears black suits with a white shirts with oversized collars and cuffs. Some have ornate stitching or pen stripes that are also usually white. The shirts are never tucked in. He wears dark blood red dress shoes that are made of dragon scales. And of course he never takes off his amulets which he also rarely tucks in. When not wearing his dress clothes he also has a t-shirt and jeans that he wears. The t-shirt is black with skulls on it and was slightly enchanted by Joe providing a modest defense against mundane slashing weapons.

Mannerisms: Joe is kind to most everyone. He can come accross as much less than he is though. In combat he appears to rush into batles without thinking, but in truth he is very analytical, just tending to think on his feet. He's also a very open and charismatic person, developing friendships quickly. As stated earlier, he's got a weakness for a pretty girl and has the tendancy of being a bit of a player. He never sees himself that way though because every girl he finds himself with he truly cares for, but he's a drifter and doesn't get tied down. He believes in the unity of spirit and mana. All things are connected, all things originally were and always have the potential to be good. In this, he's an idealist.

Properties of Choice: A magical walking stick made from wood from a forest that sprung up when Moses' staff was planted in Africa. It gives its carrier the ability to walk days upon end without tiring. It also provides food and water each day as well as light to see by at night. It can never be used as a weapon. An ornate and ancient Chinese sword forged with a technique long since lost to the world. Its blade has never dulled and its hilt has never cracked. A Star of David necklace that grants the wearer protection from dark magic. A Yin-Yang medalion that provides an enhanced link to the tao of magic for the wearer. A medalion of a dancing Indian godess with four arms. It protects the wearer from physical attacks. Four invisible hands block attacks. If there are five attacks at once, or an attack is too fast, this defence can fail. An Ankh. It protects against poisons and enhances the body's natural defenses and healing. A bracelet of wooden prayer beads. The bracelet provides a link to Joe's book of spells. And lastly is his book of spells. It is a leatherbound book of handwritten spells from his travels across his world.

Sociology: Because Joe believes in the goodness of man, he treats all as friends until he is forced not to. He realizes that all mankind also has the potential for evil, but in truth none are truly good or evil. He tries to focus on the good and wants to bring it out in others. He likes traveling and meeting new people and learning as much as he can about other's beliefs and motives.

History: Like all RPG characters, Joe doesn't have any parents, though he wasn't born an orphan. Joe's father was an English ambassador, and Joe's mother was his father's only vice. She was foreign, exotic, and the most beautiful creature Lord Howell had ever seen. But she was not royalty. He married her anyway and a year later Joe was born. A year after that it was decided he would be punished. The Industrial Revolution had come early to the world and England was at its center. So Lord Howell and his family were sent to Africa, officially as ambassadors, but unoficially exiled from technology and the rest of the world. But there they thrived, and it was the perfect environment for Joe. He had the best of both worlds. While his parents took no tech with them on their trip, they took books and servents and tutors. Joe learned to read and write in several languages before he was eight. And he also learned to survive without technology, and saw the wonders of magic. By the time he was eight though, politics caught up to him and Mother England decided Lord Howell's punishment wasn't nearly severe enough. His family and the entire village they lived in was slaughtered. In the confusion and fighting the soldiers didn't notice that they had missed one boy. He shouldn't have been out past dark anyway. But it was the perilous night time jungle had proven to be his salvation. An old witch doctor from a neighboring village took him in and raised him as his own. It was from him that Joe first learned that he himself could channel these magics he had seen. But Joe's heart was too much like his father's. He wanted to learn, he wanted to travel the world, to understand the cultures and magics outside of Africa. The wise old doctor knew what that technology was threatening to snuff out magic in the world and saw the opportunity in this, for magic to be saved, and his son to become great. So he asked Joe to undertake this quest, not just for his ownself, but for the sake of all of magic, to share magic and help it grow, and keep its place in the world. So when he was sixteen years old, Joe left Africa on his quest to save the world. His new father gave him his walking stick and book to write all the spells down that people would share, and then he sent him on his way. Joe traveled north, to Egypt, and was readily accepted by the Egyption mages. They wanted to help, and not just in spells, but they gave him the ankh to help protect him. Next he traveled to Israel, where once again he was welcomed with open arms and given another charm of protection. In India the rumors had already spread and they had prepared for him long before he arrived, once again giving him not only spells, but another medalion of protection. When he reached Asia the hope in people's hearts had made him famous. The magical community gathered together to help the boy that would save them all. But in China he made his first mistake. He fell in love. And so he stayed there for five years. And while his pause slowed his reputation and his quest, it was not all in vain. Almost from the beginning he started learning martial arts, and could finally protect himself instead of relying on magical items. And the spells he added to his book were double what he had written down in all of his previous travels. But, all good things must end, and so they did for him, and after five years he boarded a ship to the Americas to continue what he'd started nearly nine years ago. There he learned better how to commune with the tao of magic in nature, and how to communicate with animals through the flow of magic. Finally, at the age of twenty-six, he returned to England, the place of his birth. Though it had never been his home, he could feel his destiny was here, in the city of London. Or so he thought.

Upon reaching London, Joe found a mirror in an abandoned building that turned out to be a portal to the world of Dragon Court. Upon falling to the strange new world, Joe found himself without the use of his magic, until one day he found a red colored gem that he found he could use to channel its magic, though it was not as strong as the magic he was used to in his home, and severely limited his ability to cast magic, and caused his amulets either to barely work not at all. In further adventures he discovered a way to link to the mana of this world and his abilities are now reawakening. His amulets all work now, though none as powerful yet as they once were. The only one that has seemed to reach its full potential is the Yin Yang, which is in fact one of the key reasons he now has his link to magic restored.

Joe has now found a home in Titan. His outgoing personality has lead him to the position of ambassador, which also allows him to wander the land and explore and learn as much as possible.
