The full moon shone down on Ravencrest Manor casting eerie shadows which danced around like mischievous nymphs. A cool breeze whispered words of woe as the dried leaves skittered across the cobblestone pathway leading to the Palace entrance.

The guests were just starting to arrive for the evening's festivities, but one among them wasn't there to party. One among them was there to kill.

As the guests made their way up the red velvet carpet towards the door to the manor, many gave excited squeals of glee, beamed or whispered murmurs of delight as they walked up to the manor. Once each guest’s invitation was obtained and their names announced, they passed through a dark veil revealing the dimly lit hall. Garlands of black Oak and Maple leaves were draped carefully over the banisters. Streamers and balloons dotted the ceiling as they accented the lacy black window treatments. To the right of the entrance, guests could check their coats and, if they so desired, they could also borrow a mask.

The ballroom entrance was at the end of the hall. Linked to it, was the dining hall where tables had been set aside for food. A table covered in hors d’oeuvres of all kids—stuffed croissants, quiche, fruit, vegetables, cakes, pie, custard, etc—held something delectable for everyone’s pallet. In the dining hall, across from the food, was a bar where guests could order any beverage they wanted. Drinks were all served in chilled crystal chalices.

Tantalizing music played by a live orchestra wafted through the ballroom doors. The ballroom was ensconced in black and silver draperies and decorations, which were accented by the wrought iron and crystal chandeliers and gave the room a wispy and mysterious feel.

Some of the guests were too excited to be fashionably late and were already dancing to the lively waltz that now played. Others sat in chairs lining the ballroom as they chatted and whispered words of mystery and intrigue in an early effort to unmask the guests more quickly than everyone else. A few masked guests lingered in the shadows of ornate Victorian-esque columns, the main supports for this room. Overall, the atmosphere was quite delightful and the evening whispered promises to be a particularly memorable one.

:Askua Tress entered the ball room and looked about. All seemed in order, though to her every thing not quite ready for such a party. She pulled a feather duster from under her apron, and approached one of the ornate statues in the room and began to dust, as she muttered to herself:

"Oh this will not do, to much dust here, and there. Oh dear master will be upset, this needs to be spotless. Where did that finger print come from."

*Mydraas sauntered into the ballroom her navy blue gown clinging to her figure. In her left hand she held an elaborate feathered mask that kept half her face well hidden. A smile crept across her lips as she entered seeing the deception and attempted unmasking taking place by the other guests. She stepped towards the wall sitting down gracefully in a chair provided.*

From the balcony above stood a dark & brooding character, watching everyone with an imperious aire, as if lording over the proceedings were his right. By virtue of his blood, the idea wasn't far off. Few were not beneath him, and from his vantage point, it was literally true.

Taking a glass of champaign from a passing sommelier, Lord Marcus of House Tarinius just watched the crowd.

He approached the manor cautiously, scanning for possible exits and hiding spots, he sized up the place before entering. It wasn't that he was planning anything particular this night, but it never hurt to be prepared. As he opened the large doors the dim light was just enough to illuminate the all white mask he wore, featureless, except for the slanted eyeholes. The rest of him was covered in a black cloak that masked his body well. He drew his invitation from inside his cloak slowly, handing it to the doorman, except that it got caught on a fold and fell from his hand, fluttering to the ground. In a moment of embarrassment he hurried for the paper, trying to catch it before it blew too far away, but as he turned he stepped on his cloak, twisting it beneath him and sending him crashing onto the ground, no way of softening the fall as he was caught in all the layers of the cloak. "OOff!"

He scrambled to his feet, shoving the invitation into the doorman's hands and rushed inside, before he could announce his entrance.
What a way to start the night already, thought Mathias, as he quickly made his way to the bar.

Luke walked up to the manor seeing his chance to get to some beautiful older women he dressed up in his nicest suit. He loved a good party, and loved showing off his many talents even more. He saw himself as extremely good looking, but all the women he tried to talk to seemed to ignore him. One woman had the nerve to say "Awe, what a cute little kid." At that he was furious. He grabbed a drink of wine and chugged it.

No one at all noticed him, and he was getting sick of it. This mask he was wearing must be the problem, it had to be the thing that was diminishing his good looks. He walked over to a woman who's name he overheard as Mydraas, placing his arm around her waist and felt up the navy blue gown and said "Hey baby, why don't we go for a nice spin in another room? I have been told that I can make a heart melt with an ice cube."

:Askua kept muttering to her self, as she looked closer to the finger print.:

"Odd, why would there be a finger print here. Oh this will not do all, not at all."

:She pulled a small cloth from her apron and began to wipe at the finger print. It only smudged it. She brought the cloth to her lips and moistened a pit of the cloth with some saliva.:

"Blood, oh my this even worse, what is that."

:Askua muttered to herself as she looked behind the statue, as she did she wiped the bloody finger print from the statue and looked closer at the bloody knife on the floor. She picked it up and wrapped into the cloth that she just used to remove and visible trace of the finger print and calmly dropped the knife in to the apron and step off to the kitchen.:

"Those worthless cooks, leaving such a mess behind. I will give them a piece of my mind for this."

:Once in the kitchen she dropped the knife into the sink filled with soapy water so that it would be clean once again. Not seeing any of the help she returned to the ball room.:

"The nerve of the staff to not be in the proper place with such a party taking place. Oh dear the dust on that bar."

:Askua walked to the bar and began to dust and clean the surface, much to this dismay of the bartender.:

*Mydraas looks over at Luke and makes eye contact for a second before moving a hand to his armand removing it from her waist. Luke obviously didn't know who or what she was. A smile curled her lips a bit sarcastically as she started to talk*

I do nothing without payment first. Sorry boy.

*She turned walking to the steps and starting up to the balcony. Her dress was low cut showing a lot of cleavage and as she leaned on the railing it was very noticable. She turned her head to look both directions seeing Lord Marcus standing a few feet away she smiled, her eyes having landed on her prefered client for the night.*

*A tall, thin figure approached the manor with little regard for his surroundings. Wearing a vest with only a thin, sleeveless undershirt, and full-length black pants. The figure's tan was still visible in the moonlight, but only slightly compared to what it would show in the lights of the party.

The figure considered his situation thoroughly in thought:*

"Who in their right mind would want me at some sort of party, not to mention one as upscale as this..."

*Upon arrival, he had no coat to check, and requested no mask. As he entered a voice was heard to announce "To our guests, please welcome dedman an-" The voice cut out as the late arrival had a hand around the speakers throat. "Don't mention my name." Though he spoke no true verbal threat, it was implied beyond all question.

Walking into the ballroom, dedman settled in for what he was sure would be a long and miserable night.*
This one came from looking
This one opened twice
These two seem as smooth as silk, flush againt my eyes
This one needed stiches and
This one came from rings
This one isn't even there, but I feel it more because you don't care

Hoping that this was what he needed, Sotick pulled out his crumpled invitation and headed to the entrance after checking the adress. With his mind clouded from his earlier endeavor, he sought to indulge in the happy atmosphere of the holloween party.

Sotick could not help but look distraught as he declined the offer of a mask and headed for the bar. He was still dressed in his everyday attire and having recieved the invitation from a buisness acquaintance had not realized that he would stand out. His name had been announced and he could sense a few unfamilair stares following him as he made his way towards the bar.

Taking a seat a the bar next to a concerned looking woman who was dusting of the bar next to him, he could see the vast arry of drink combinations in front of him, "I feel better already..." he muttered to himself.

Trying to impress the lady, in a rough voice he adressed the bartender, " I'll take the strongest you got"...

:Askua looked in horror at the new arrival to the bar The dirt that was tracked in, but far to many people in the room to sweep it up. This would be something that would eat at her all night. Askua lifted the arm of Sotick and wiped the dust from under it, muttering to herself.:

"I need to distract the guests so that I can sweep that floor, but how. If only someone would die upstairs that would clear out this room. But then there would be blood all over in another room, and that will just not do."

:Askua trailed off in random mutters about the amount of dirt that was in the room. But if one was to look about the place was spotless.:

*Dirk sighed. He wished he had been introduced like all the other invited guests, but because of his attire, the doorman assumed Dirk to be one of the servants so he just scowled Dirk in. Dirk hadn't time to change out of his work clothes, but managed to find a mask on the inside pocket of one of his dead bodies in his workshop... he assumed the corpse wouldn't mind. The mask was a piece of work: all white, two black slits for eyes and a tear drop hover about the cheek bone with a trail leading from the left eye, painted to look like blood*

*The mere thought made him smile and temporarily forget his issues at hand, but he quickly snapped out of his day dream and stood up to find a drink. He stood to his full six foot stature, straighted out his suit and put his top hat on gingerly so not to disturb the mask and set about to find a drink... or a dead body*

Silently a lone figure moved within the crowd, noting the characters that his long knife lusted after. He had been sloppy with his first kill, but noticed that a maid cleaned the mess for him. Such a pretty one too, rape however could wait. His pride had been hurt, and he was going to make the attendees of this party pay, they had no idea what they were dealing with. He had more knowledge of these people then they knew, he knew their dark secrets. He knew when they would be alone. He knew how to lure them into his trap. He found his first victim instantly, he would stalk the man and strike in the peak of the party. He would finally begin the massacre of the herd, the first sheep to fall would be done so in a ceremonial fashion. The kill would clean, exciting, and most of all fun.

A large, heavy-set yet muscular man arrived, slightly later than everyone else. With his thick cape curled tightly around him, he was warm in the chill night and moved to enter the house as he was greeted with a cover for his face during this masquerade.

Entering the door almost silently he quickly shuffled in to find a dark corner somewhere so that he could watch and wait. Whether it was for food, for someone he might actually enjoy talking to or... something else... he merely hovered over into the aforementioned corner of the main room, concealed by his cloak and revealed only by the bright purity of his white mask.

Mistakeing her disgust for for intrest, he sat contemplating introducing himself to the cute lady who was now wiping of the barstool next to her.

So quickly downed the drink he recieved from the bartendender and introduced himself (in a slightly less rough form of speech) "hello my dear lady,My name is Sotick. i apologize for the mud and i would glady help you with the mess. Not to mention that i am a mercenary but scince its my fualt i would never think of charging a shuch a charming young woman as yourself."
""

Not taking his attention of the cute maid he motioned to the bartender for a more exotic drink.

His premonition was right, a party whas just what he needed. At this time he no longer felt ashamed for what happend earlier in his line of work.
