(Was: Halloween!)

I'm super excited! Just finished the final touches on my costume last weekend... gonna work on more paper-mache candy bombs this weekend! Eee! (There's nothing more fun than telling people that you're going home to "make bombs".... Mehehehe.

Photos to follow text.

Anyone else dressing up? What you going as? You staying home to hand out candy if you aren't going anywhere? Any cool parties planned?

SoooOooOooo EXCITED!

(If you haven't guessed by now, know ye this: Halloween is my fave' holiday!)

I always look forward to seeing what creative thing you're doing every year.

This year is my first time with my own place. I don't have any outfits other than my SCA stuff, but I'd like to do something. If I use one of them and hand out candy I'll keep in mind your tip of the "pathway of orange lights."

Of course, I'll be handing out chocolates, with big bars for the more full costumes.

The only tip I have for ya is to go without the mask. :P The rest of the costume is great. I doubt I'll be doing anything but sitting on the porch handing out candy. Of course, Ember says I don't need a costume to be scary.

Sooo.... I didn't have any backup tonight-- it was just me. My husband had to work and my other backup didn't stay for the Trunk-or-Treat. I still had a blast-- even if it was a free-for-all at my trunk!

I loaded up the treasure chest with 3 BAGS of Cost-Co candy and told kids to "take a handful"... I was still begging people to take it by the end of the night! (Fortunately, I found some teenagers to take it off my hands.) I also had pirate dog-tags from Oriental Trading, pirate eye patches (from Target at last year's after Halloween sales), skull rings (target), sectiony pencils (Target), erasers (dollar bin at target), hair clips (Spirit Halloween Store), Pirate stickers (Oriental Trading)... I left the 8" glow bracelets at home because I didn't have anyone to help pass those out-- besides, I only have like 500 left from the 1000 I bought 3 years ago (http://illuminationz.com/). *grin*

Then I shot mini candy bars from my cannon.... I'd load the cannon, ram the candy with the ram-rod, use the bike foot pump to pressurize the pressure chamber of the "cannon" (My husband built it based on a potato gun plan at instructables.com).... then I'd yell "fire in the hole!"... pull on the leather strap... and shoot candy!

The kids loved it!

"Can you shoot candy into my bag?"
"Woah! What are you shooting? Candy? NEAT!"
"That is so cool! How'd you guys do that?"

... and, of course, I was most amused... my cannon got aimed at a thorn-bush because of all the kids raiding my treasure chest. (Does that sound dirty or what?) There were kids digging candy out of the thorn bush and some guy taking photos saying he was going to Blog about it! Hahaha! I'll have to Google it later to see if I can find it! Haha.

Anyway.... it wasn't much-- but there's not a lot you can do for Trunk-or-Treat, but I do my best to make it fun for all! Unfortunately, once the maelstrom started I was too busy to take photos... and I didn't have any backup to help take photos... so all I got was the pre-game show photo.

The candy canister shot from the cannon is indeed hilarious and down right cool. But the werewolf carving is fracking awesome! Even better than the last werewolf carving, I think. ^_^

Very cool, I love the cannon.

But my plans changed, we're being dragged to a kid friendly party. So I took out my sewing machine and made the simplest costume I could think of; a devil with pre-bought horns/tail. Granted all I really did was alter the skirt with lace and gathers.

I have red tights to go with it.

Still waiting for pictures to be uploaded. Hopefully in the next week or so. Either way, I'm leaving this in the main forum until around Thanksgiving to give people a chance to post.

I did upload photos, but I am lazy about linking to them thus far. In the meantime, here's a video of my cannon.

I had lots of fun and probably a little too much alcohol. We went bar hopping this year and then to a house party. In my group we had an angel, a pregnant nun, Cinderella, and I was Snow White.

I made the apple myself.

Didn't want to leave the angel out.
