...One of the things that I always wanted to do but never got around to was to analyze a user’s browsing history to estimate age and gender.

So what I did is I modified the SocialHistory JS so that it polled the browser to find out which of the Quantcast top 10k sites were visited. I then apply the ratio of male to female users for each site and with some basic math determine a guestimate of your gender. The math is really quite simple, I just take:
1 / (1 + r_1 * r_2 * … * r_n)
where p_i is the ratio of men-to-women for the specific site. For example, if you had been to two sites that had a 2-1 ratio of men to women, the probability of you being female would be:
1 / (1 + 2 * 2) = 1/5 = 20%

So... if you have no history, would you be considered 0% chance male, 0% chance female?

It looks at only 2 of the sites that I visit, which is less than 1% of my browsing. How is that an analysis of my browsing habits?

I think it's only set up to work with a set list of sites. It'd be pretty hard to work with all the sites online.
Worked for me though; Likelihood of you being FEMALE is 77%
..Maybe I'll clear my history and try again without letting my little sister use my computer though.

50/50 was my result.
How suprising, not.
I do not believe that females and males are different from each other when it comes to interests.
You need to see the bigger picture, you have on one side the super male and the super female and on the other side the female who lives in a male body and the male who lives in a female body and the rest is all in between. So in my vision there is not something considered to be female and or particular male.
But besides that, it was still fun to anticipate.

Very neat ... However, it says that I am 90% female and 10% male ... Is that why I get all them emails for male enhancement ???

You should see all the emails for male enhancement/viagra that I get! Every day, out of 3 pages of email, 1 of those might actually be for me. I also get offers of marriage from lonely Russian women... are they all lesbian? <confused> I know I was brought up by an all male peer group but I didn't realise it was so obvious that even my email shows it. Even Az says I have more balls than most of the men he knows *sigh*.
